I built this because I needed it myself.
I'm a 49-year-old woman with inattentive ADHD, and I'm perimenopausal. Most days I'm completely capable. But capability and available capacity are not the same thing. Some days my brain says no to the dishwasher, the inbox, resetting the house—to all of it—and more willpower does not fix it.
Life does not become empty because you are having a Low Battery day. Work, appointments, caring responsibilities and basic life still use capacity. Most task apps ignore that. They show the same list every day and leave you to interpret difficulty starting or finishing as a personal failure.
Steady does something different. It asks how you are before it asks what you will do. It keeps Today deliberately small, recognises the Non-negotiables already using your battery, and gives Daily basics, Keeping up with, Later tasks, ideas and worries their own places. The aim is not to fit more into the day. It is to make deciding what matters feel more manageable.
But choosing the right task is not always enough. Executive dysfunction can leave a gap between knowing what matters and being able to begin. Steady supports that moment too: making the first step smaller, offering a few quiet minutes to start, recognising partial progress, and helping you notice what keeps getting in the way. The task does not have to be finished before your effort counts.
Capacity can change after the morning. Evening Close records how the day actually ended. Over time, Patterns connects how you felt, what you planned and what happened. That can help you choose a more realistic load, adjust earlier when things feel harder, and replace some guilt or sense of failure with a clearer understanding of what you needed that day.
Steady is built with ADHD and perimenopause in mind, but it is not only for people with either. Fluctuating capacity can come with menopause, burnout, poor sleep, illness, stress, caring for other people, or simply life being a lot. If “I'm capable, but my brain is saying no today” feels familiar, Steady is for you.
It does not demand perfect tracking and it does not use broken streaks to turn a difficult week into another failure. Things can wait safely in Later, return when there is room, or be released without becoming a debt. Ordinary days are enough. They add up to a more honest picture of how your life and capacity work together.
You are not failing at a simple list. You are a person whose capacity changes. Steady exists to help you work with that, not against it.
